Proposed change to STAR: The 2013-14 State Budget includes a proposal that would require all Basic STAR recipients to register with the State Department in order to receive or continue receiving STAR. The new registration would apply only to Basic STAR recipients. The program would apply to 2014 STAR exemptions. Taxpayers do not need to take any action now. Existing Basic STAR recipients will be notified directly by the State Tax Department when it is time to re-register.

The Assessor's duties are specified in the New York State Real Property Tax Law and are for the maintenance of the assessment records and the valuation of real property located within the Town of Plattsburgh.

Real Property exemptions are available to property owners who meet the eligibility requirements. The applications for these exemptions are available in the office or online.
